Bump, Set, Spike!

Originally called "mintonette" in 1895, Volleyball was all started by William G. Morgan, a physical education director.  His plan: combine sports like basketball, handball, and baseball into a less physical game.  The game was supposed to be for businessmen and older gentlemen.  He blended aspects of tennis like the net and made improvements.  He raised the net 6 feet above the ground.  After watching his players. "volley" back in forth over the net he soon named the game volleyball.  The sport quickly spread around North America and soon traveled around the world.  Who would think that a gym teacher, in his small town Holyoke,  Massachusetts, could create such a popular sport played by many! Blog ya later!
